Posted by Malaysian Institute of Medical Laboratory Sciences (MIMLS)

AN INVITATION TO ALL MEDICAL LAB PROFESSIONALS
In light of the new development concerning our profession in the allied health committee formed by the MOH. A strong membership base is essential to project our professional interests. The MIMLS as the professional body for the medical laboratory practitioners in Malaysia has to present itself as a viable partner in the allied health profession committee. A registration board shall be formed after the allied health bill has been tabled in parliament and becomes an act to govern all allied health professionals in Malaysia. So it is imperative that the MIMLS has a formidable number of members to safeguard the profession across the nation in the public and private practices.
Medical Lab Technologist should not be viewed as just a job but as a profession and that corresponds to our sense of pride of our profession. The MIMLS has always tried the very best to make the profession conspicuous to the public and the powers that be of our existence as a profession.
Without fail we have been constantly organising conferences at the national and international level not just to inculcate the love for scientific knowledge but also to prove that MLTs are professionals in our own right irrespective of our paper qualifications. Courses and workshops are being organised every year for not only the members in particular but the Lab professionals in general to improve our skills.
The MIMLS is appointed as one of the association (presenting the professional associations) of the Malaysian National Medical Testing Accreditation Committee (MyNMTAC) by the Department of Standards Malaysia (DSM) and The Allied Health Professional Working Committee by the Allied Health Section (BSKB) of the Ministry of Health.
The MIMLS in partnership with the College of Pathologist, Academy of Medicine also runs the Laboratory Quality Assurance Scheme (LABQAS) for Quality Assurance program of laboratories in Malaysia.
The new breed of MLTs must be the driving force of the institute so that the medical laboratory industry/service of the nation continue not only to strive but also to soar to greater heights.
